Salary: £38,823 pa gross + benefits

We have an excellent opportunity for a Programme Officer to work within our Governance and Peace Directorate (GPD), which leads in the Secretariat’s high-profile programme for the promotion of democracy and good governance in the Commonwealth.

The Programme Officer, under the supervision of the Head of Good Offices and in close collaboration with relevant Secretariat Sections/Units, will be responsible for supporting the implementation and reporting of the Inclusive Dialogue and Improved Women’s Political Participation project. The project is intended to strengthen the capacity of member countries to address major challenges that impede their ability to conduct more credible, peaceful and inclusive elections.

The successful candidate will have a strong background and experience in democratic governance. Additionally, you will have experience in project management within the context of a results-based management system, including project planning, monitoring, evaluation, budgeting and implementation. You will also have staff management experience, including management of external contracts and consultants.

The Commonwealth is a voluntary association of 53 member governments and provides guidance on policy making, technical assistance and advisory services to Commonwealth member countries.  We support governments to help achieve sustainable, inclusive and equitable development.
