With a degree or equivalent in communications, journalism, media studies, international affairs or any other appropriate field plus a minimum of 10 years of experience in communications/media roles of which seven years are at a senior level, you now have an opportunity to make a major impact in this vital role.

The Head of Media Relations is responsible for raising the profile of the Commonwealth and its programmes in mainstream media: newspapers, radio and television channels. Cultivating and maintaining sound relations with the media across the Commonwealth is essential to improving its brand recognition and relevance as an international organisation committed to democratic governance and achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

The Head of Media Relations will ensure that the reporters and editors are effectively engaged with the Commonwealth and its work, so that the relevance of the organisation is communicated to wider audiences.

Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Head of Media Relations will manage a small team. S/He is supported by two Senior Communications Officers, two Assistant Communications Officers (Young Professionals) and an Operations Officer who supports the Media team along with other sections of the Division. 

You must also be able to operate effectively in our multi-cultural setting and be a national of a Commonwealth country.
